The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was welcomed in Brussels by the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.
They discussed the advancement of the Kosovo integration process into the European Union and the progress achieved in the European reform agenda, institutional reforms in Kosovo, economic development, democratic progress and neighborly relations.
The Prime Minister stated that the Republic of Kosovo is a very good example that economic development and democratic progress can go hand in hand. He emphasized the Government’s commitment to implementing the Growth Plan, which is the main instrument for economic growth and accelerating the EU integration process. On this occasion, he mentioned the implementation of the ERA II reform agenda, which by the end of 2023 had reached an implementation rate of 72%, up from 45% in previous governments, and many reforms that had remained as recommendations but unimplemented for years and that found an epilogue with our government.
He also informed Commissioner Kos about the details and information regarding the terrorist kinetic attack of Friday, November 29, on the Iber-Lepenc canal. While the investigations into the latest attack are ongoing, the Prime Minister underlined that among the confiscations made in relation to the case, in addition to weapons and ammunition, 74 military emblems have also been found, of which 20 belong to various Russian military units, in addition to Serbian ones.
In this first meeting between them since taking up the new position by Mrs. Kos, Prime Minister Kurti stated that the commitment of the Republic of Kosovo to the implementation of European reforms and full alignment with the values and foreign policy of the European Union deserves the acceptance of the questionnaire and the acquisition of the status of a candidate country, as we approach the 2nd anniversary of the submission of the application for membership. He also called for the removal of the measures against Kosovo.
The Prime Minister thanked the Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, for the hospitality on the third day of her work and wished her success in her new assignment, offering close cooperation
