March 14, 2025

Prizren, March 14, 2025

At the invitation of the Embassy of Turkey in Kosovo, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Deputy Prime Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, Emilija Rexhepi, and Ministers Hajrulla Çeku and Fikrim Damka, was invited tonight to the iftar hosted by the Turkish Embassy and the Governor of Edirne, Yunus Sezer.

Fasting in the month of Ramadan teaches us that sacrifice is virtue, challenges are opportunities and good things are blessings. Ramadan is a time of reflection. And for Muslim believers, it is also a month of perfection of qualities, habits, goals and deeds. It is a call for humility, improvement and acquisition; humility towards others, improvement of oneself, and acquisition of lessons. For everyone, it is a call for harmony, peace, solidarity and kindness. Therefore, let us respond to this call every day of the year, like every day of this month, said the Prime Minister.

While thanking Ambassador Angılı and the Governor of Edirne, Sezer for this iftar laid out on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, Prime Minister Kurti wished all Muslim believers an easy and accepted fast in this special month.

Prime Minister Kurti’s speech on the occasion

Your Excellency Ambassador, Mr. Sabri Tunç Angılı, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Kosovo,

Honorable Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Sisters and Brothers,
I thank the Ambassador of Turkey to Kosovo, Sabri Tunç Angılı, and the Governor of Edirne for bringing us together here tonight.

Fasting in the month of Ramadan teaches us that sacrifice is virtue, challenges are opportunities, and good things are blessings. Ramadan is a time of reflection, and for Muslim believers it is also a month of perfecting one’s qualities, habits, goals, and deeds. It is a call for humility, improvement, and acquisition; humility toward others, self-improvement, and acquisition of lessons. For all, it is a call for harmony, peace, solidarity, and kindness. Therefore, let us respond to this call every day of the year, like every day of this month.

Today is the 14th day of Ramadan. There are 15 more days to go. I wish that all those who have fasted so far have their fasts accepted, and I wish everyone an easy fast in the remaining half of this month, which is not only for Muslim believers.

May God accept it from you. Bon Appetit.
