Podujeva, 4 April 2023

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Finance, Labor and Transport, Hekuran Murati, as well as the Mayor of Podujevë, Shpejtim Bulliqi, today visited the S//Sprint company, a local textile manufacturer in Podujevë.

He helt honored by the warm welcome organized for him today by the co-owners, Xufë and Sami Sopa, the management staff and the workers.

“Mrs. Xufa started with five workers, now they have reached 180 workers and during the season it goes up to 350 workers. In addition, it is important to note that the materials are organic and recyclable and also the raw material is obtained in a very yielding, very primary version so that the maximum processing is done here in the country,” he said.

S//Sprint company produces 143 different types of products, which are divided into two groups: sportswear and underwear. In the first group of products, the production capacity per year reaches up to 180 thousand units, and as for the second group, the production capacity reaches up to 900 thousand units per year. As the largest local producer in the textile industry, this company, in addition to the local market, exports its products to Switzerland and Germany, while they are in talks to expand exports to other countries, while most of the sales are done online.

During the visit, they also saw up close the technology and automatic and electronic equipment that have increased quality and productivity. One of them was the result of the donation of the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade together with the World Bank.

The Prime Minister thanked the owners for their contribution as one of the three most regular taxpayers in our country and encouraged them to use the measures of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo as much as possible to support workers and businesses.

“So more employment, more production, more profit and more taxes”, he said at the end.

The complete statement of the Prime Minister:

Today we were honored to be warmly welcomed by the owner couple, Xufa and Samiu, here at S/Sprint, a textile industry which marks the largest producer in this sector in our country.

In addition to producing and exporting abroad, their products are all over Kosovo in our domestic market and they export to Switzerland, Germany and are in talks for other countries where a large part of the sale is done online.

Mrs. Xufa started with five workers, now they have reached 180 workers and during the season it goes up to 350 workers. In addition, it is important to note that the materials are organic and recyclable and also the raw material is obtained in a highly yielding very primary version so that the maximum of processing is done here domestically.

They have a total of 143 types of products, in two major categories of underwear and sportswear for both sexes and also for all ages. Now they have added automatic and electronic devices which have increased the quality and productivity. One of them that we had the chance to see was the result of a donation from the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade together with the World Bank, while the other was a donation from USAID and the Kingdom of Sweden.

We encouraged them to use the measures of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo as much as possible to support workers and businesses.

I thank very much Mrs. Xufë, Sami and the new manager, Jeta, for this contribution they are making both for the population and for the state, since they are one of the three most regular taxpayers in our country. So more employment, more production, more profit and more taxes.
