Banjska, 24 September, 2024
After the visit to the family of the Hero Afrim Bunjaku, on the anniversary of his death and tributes to the grave of the deceased, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti together with the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, the Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the Director of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, visited the place where Sergeant Bunjaku fell, namely in the village of Banjské in Zveçan, where a plaque was unveiled in his honor on the road that will bear the name “Afrim Bunjaku” according to the decision of the 221st meeting of the Government.
In his statement to the media, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that Banjska of September 24, 2023 was a plan to attack Kosovo and was an aggression against state sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace, security, constitutionality, and legality.
“The plan was to divide Kosovo, the plan was to annex a part of the territory and the fall of Afrim Bunjak was not in vain, on the contrary, it is a great victory for the state of Kosovo for all citizens without distinction and in defense of our territorial integrity . Kosovo is one and indivisible”, declared the prime minister.
During the visit to the place where the hero Afrim Bunjaku fell, Prime Minister Kurti was with the policemen who, a year ago in the early hours of the morning of September 24, 2023, confronted the paramilitaries of Radoicić, who shared details of the confrontation with the attack.
Prime Minister Kurti expressed his deep gratitude and eternal thanks to our police for all the work, commitment and contribution to the security of the country.
Prime Minister Kurti’s complete statement:
Today has been one year since the heroic fall of the Kosovo Police Sergeant, Afrim Bunjaku, who was with his colleagues in a place where a trap was prepared for the murder of our policemen by terrorist paramilitaries who were orchestrated and financed by Serbia. and who had previously brought a lot of weaponry to Kosovo for a wider and longer conflict. From the confiscations of weapons and ammunition made by the Kosovo Police in Zveçan and beyond, it appears that 105 types of weapons have been confiscated and over 80,000 rounds of ammunition.
This shows that Banjska of September 24, 2023 was a plan to attack Kosovo, it was an aggression against state sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace, security, constitutionality and legality, and precisely for this reason since we never forget this, today in this place we discovered the sign which marks the new name of this road, i.e. “Afrim Bunjaku”, according to yesterday’s decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Kosovo Police is a multi-ethnic police force. It serves all citizens, but criminals like Radoicic, Veselinovic and the like cannot win, they cannot be free in democratic, independent and European Kosovo. They win tenders, they behave freely in pro-Russian autocratic Serbia. Serbia is responsible, therefore Serbia must bear responsibility and for this we ask for the help of the European and American factors of the democratic West, because Millan Radoicic and other criminals must be handed over to the Kosovo Police, the Kosovo authorities and face justice.
So the plan was to divide Kosovo, the plan was to annex a part of the territory and the fall of Afrim Bunjaku was not in vain, on the contrary it is a great victory of the state of Kosovo for all citizens without distinction and in defense of our whole territorial. Kosovo is one and indivisible.
Glory to Afrim Bunjaku and all the martyrs of Kosovo, as well as deep gratitude and eternal thanks to our police, which has western training and local patriotism.
Together with me here are also the policemen who, a year ago in the early hours of the morning of September 24, 2023, confronted Radoicic’s paramilitaries, who were supported and directed by Vucic.
