The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, continued his visit to Prizren, where they closely observed the works being carried out for the restoration of the Old Barracks.
The Old Barracks, built in the first half of the 19th century, within the Old Saraj by Mahmud Pash Rrotulli, is presently a cultural heritage asset under protection. It is in the restoration phase. The restoration works are expected to be completed in mid-2026.
The restoration of the Old Barracks is being financed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, while the value of the contract is 525,000 euros. In addition to preserving the values of the monument, after full restoration, the building is planned to accommodate the institution of the Inter-municipal Archive of Prizren, a subordinate institution of the State Archives of Kosovo.
