Leposavic, 9 October 2024
This morning, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, and the director of the Gynecology Clinic, Zef Ndrejaj, were received in the Municipality of Leposaviq by the mayor Lulzim Hetemi and the deputy mayor Marina Bogojevic.
During the visit, Prime Minister Kurti raised the issue of the lack of a maternity hospital in the Municipality of Leposaviq, for which, together with Minister Vitia and Director Ndrejaj, they visited the facility that is expected to be converted into a maternity hospital.
“We are interested in renovating this empty building, which has been subjected to constant damage, turning it into a maternity hospital for the citizens of this municipality, who unfortunately are forced to give to travel kilometers away in Novi Pazar, cross the border so that their wives give birth there. Therefore, it is important that there is a maternity hospital in the municipality of Leposaviq, and that’s why we came here.” said Prime Minister Kurti.
He also emphasized the importance of the month of October, which is marked as breast cancer awareness month. The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction that a mobile mammogram will stay for two days in the center of Leposaviq, offering women and girls the opportunity for free check-ups. He emphasized that through this initiative, awareness is increasing and contributing to the early diagnosis of breast cancer.
The Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, also called on all women to benefit from the free mobile mammogram service in Leposaviq.
“Diagnosis in Kosovo is happening mainly in the first and second stages, and this is thanks to the awareness of citizens and examinations such as mammography,” said Minister Vitia, emphasizing that recovery depends a lot on the time of diagnosis.
The full pronunciation of Prime Minister Kurti:
I am very glad that we are today in the Municipality of Leposaviq, because for two days, the mammogram will be here in the center of the city, to enable women and girls in Leposaviq to be checked and in this way we can work together not just simply in raising awareness, but also in the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.
After two days here, the mammography continues to the municipality of Vitia, meanwhile, it was previously in the northern municipality of Mitrovica.
I am with the mayor Lulzim Hetemi, whom I thank for the hospitality, and the deputy mayor Marina Bogojevic, and I came from Pristina with the minister Arben Vitia and the director of the Gynecology Clinic, Zef Ndrejaj, with whom we came to see this facility, to see whether it is suitable for maternity. So, we are interested in renovating this empty building, which has been subjected to constant damage, by turning it into a maternity hospital for the citizens of this municipality, who unfortunately are forced to have their women’s births go with tens of kilometers away in Novi Pazar, cross the border and give birth there.
Therefore, it is important that there is a maternity hospital in the Municipality of Leposaviq, that’s why we came here.
