Zllatar, Ferizaj, 13 July, 2024
On Saturday morning, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, visited the field planted with sunflowers by farmer Shukri Sallahu in Zllatar, Ferizaj Municipality. There he was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Imri Demelezi, members of the Assembly, Valon Ramadani, Shqipe Metaj Isufi, Adelina Grainca and Enver Haliti.
Although the final result of the field planted with sunflowers will be seen at the end of August, Prime Minister Kurti expressed congratulations for the work done so far by farmer Sallahu, who this year planted 53 hectares, while last year he planted 30 hectares of sunflowers.
“I congratulated him for his work and for the result, which can already be seen, although we will finally see it at the end of August when this field of sunflowers will be harvested and can be loaded to be transformed into oil”, said the Prime Minister.
He added that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development last year subsidized farmers who planted a total of 280 hectares of sunflowers, while this year they received applications for subsidization for 1100 hectares of sunflowers. As he said, this is a proof that we will always be close to the farmers who plant and harvest and who contribute to our agricultural production and yield.
“Our food on our tables must be from our land in all the agricultural crops that can be grown in our beloved Kosovo”, Prime Minister Kurti concluded.
Meanwhile, Shukri Sallahu, a farmer from the village of Zllatar, had special thanks for the prime minister. He said that with the easing of application procedures and the increase in subsidies for farmers by the Government, the willingness to work has also increased.
This year, among many other agricultural crops, the applicant farmers benefited from subsidies of 454 euros per hectare planted with sunflowers from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development.
Prime Minister Kurti’s complete pronunciation:
We are here in Zllatar of Ferizaj, together with the farmer Shukri Sallahu, at the wide field planted with sunflowers. I congratulated him on the work and on the result which is already visible although we will finally see it at the end of August when this field of sunflowers will be harvested and can be loaded to be transformed into oil.
Last year they planted 30 hectares and this year 53 hectares. In general, our Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development subsidized last year farmers who planted a total of 280 hectares of sunflowers, while this year 1100 hectares of sunflowers. So not only is it good, but it is very good, and we will always be close to the farmers who plant and harvest, who contribute to our agricultural production and yield.
We know that once Ferizaj also had an oil factory, there is an oil factory in Llap, but it is important that this growing agricultural production results more and more with agricultural processing and with the resurgent industry of the Republic of Kosovo for our citizens. Our food on our tables must be from our land in all the agricultural crops that can be made in our beloved Kosovo. Thank you!
