Dear Sidran family,

With deep respect for the personality and figure of Abdullah Sidran, touched and saddened by his departure, I address you with the most sincere words of condolence.

Your beloved Abdullah, honored and respected throughout the generations, left an indelible mark. His contribution to Bosnian culture, literature and art is immeasurable, while his words and works will remain for all of us who had the privilege of knowing him and following his work.

Mr. Sidran was more than a talented artist; he was the soul of Sarajevo, a voice that articulated the deep truths of our common humanity. His works, from “Sahbaza” to “Tears of the Mothers of Srebrenica”, left a deep mark on the art scene and culture of the Balkans and beyond.

Our last conversation, in which we discussed politics, Sarajevo and the importance of books and reading, will remain in my memory as a testament to his unwavering commitment to justice and belief in the power of words to change the world for the better. . It was a conversation that confirmed my admiration for his poetic genius and his ability to illuminate the dark recesses of our reality through his verses.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and on my own behalf, I express my deepest condolences to you and all the admirers of his work. Abdullah Sidran’s memory will live on through all of you and through his work, which will continue to inspire generations to come.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Sincerely,
Albin Kurti
Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo
