After bilateral meetings with Swiss state representatives, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with women entrepreneurs, professionals and academics from our diaspora in Switzerland, to hear about their success stories, and to familiarize them with the development of the country and the progress of the last four years.
Prime Minister Kurti said that Kosovo is a country that promotes women leaders in various sectors, including in business and entrepreneurship. He also focused on the comprehensive policies undertaken during our mandate, which also aim to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment, which were the main topics of the conversation.
He pointed out that the participation of women in decision-making positions and public administration has increased, where 45.6% is the level of representation of women in public institutions, while the representation in public enterprises has also improved.
Meanwhile, regarding educational, professional training and employment, the prime minister said that 4,881 scholarships have been allocated for students in the STEM fields, of which 4,611 are intended for female students, direct support has been achieved for the employment of over 12,000 women, maternity allowances and children, where we have over 62 thousand benefiting mothers, while over 400 thousand children have benefited from child allowances.
He added that around 100 thousand women have opened bank accounts for the first time thanks to these measures. Also, through the Superpuna platform and the Kosovo Generation Unlimited scheme, the employment of girls and women has continued to be encouraged, while as a government we have taken steps for the health and protection of girls and women.
Prime Minister Kurti said that expatriates, including successful women, can expand their business activities in Kosovo, taking advantage of the opportunities offered by our country, so that the experience accumulated abroad is essential for the development and advancement of the country, building new bridges and empowering new generations, to ensure a sustainable future for our country.
