Miresh, Gjilan, October 13, 2022
After laying the foundation stone of the nursery in the village of Miresh in the Municipality of Gjilan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci and the Mayor of the Municipality of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni, visited and met the farmer Osman Osmani during the autumn plantings.
Osman Osmani has planted 10 hectares of wheat and 10 hectares of corn. Compared to 2021, government support for planting wheat has increased by 216% per hectare, and for corn by 119% per hectare. He was satisfied with the institutional support and the simplicity of the procedures for applying for support.
The policies of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development and the support of the Government have been reflected in the increase of the planted areas and the yield per hectare, said Prime Minister Kurti, as he thanked all the farmers, who, with their work are farming everyday more of Kosovo’s land and they are producing more and more bread for Kosovo.
In 2022, the area planted with wheat increased by 15.5% and the area planted with corn by 91%.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci, speaking about the Government’s policies and actions so far in support of farmers and farmers, expressed his belief that until the end of the mandate they will take care not to leave any arable land in Kosovo without working.
The full statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti:
The wheat area per hectare has increased this year compared to previous years by 15.5 percent, while for corn over 90 percent.
On the other hand, the yield has also increased for wheat, the yield per hectare, but it has also increased a lot for corn, and this has also been helped by the increase in government support of Minister Faton Peci, with good policies and support for farmers. Even for wheat, where compared to last year, this year we have a 216 percent increase in support for wheat per hectare, and also for corn we have 119 percent. So, for wheat it is more than triple and for corn it is more than double. And this is also reflected in the areas planted, but also in the yield per hectare that is extracted at the end.
Therefore, I thank all our farmers, farmers who with their work are working more and more land in Kosovo and are producing more and more bread for Kosovo and I also thank the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Mr. Faton Pecin, who is close to the farmers, but on the other hand, he compiles the policies that help our farmers both as workers and as producers.
Together with us is the Mayor of the Municipality, Alban Hyseni, and I believe that this is the formula for success, that is, when state institutions cooperate and help closely, to those who contribute to the country’s economy and the well-being of the people.
