The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, took part today in the traditional informative – cultural event with the motto “Early Discovery – Survival”, which was held in “Ibrahim Rugova” square, under the patronage of the President of the country, Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu together with the Kosovar Center for Fighting Breast Cancer “Life/Vita”.
In this ceremony, held as part of the International Month of the Fight Against Breast Cancer, Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia.
After the speech of the president of the country, Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu, and the Director of the Kosovar Center for Fighting Breast Cancer “Jeta/Vita”, Nafije Latifi, Prime Minister Kurti and those present, took part in the traditional walk that started from “Ibrahim Rugova” square ” to “Zahir Pajaziti” square in Pristina.
This event, which is being held for the tenth time in a row, aims to raise awareness about this disease, but also to express support for anyone facing cancer.
Breast cancer is curable when detected early. Unlike the year 2022, in the years 2023 and 2024 over 52% of the cases that have been diagnosed are cases in the first and second stages. So, this means that they are detected earlier, and the success in treatment is much higher. Men are also affected by breast cancer, although less often: 0.5-1% of breast cancer cases occur in men, while 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. From this year, mammography is free throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
