Zhegër, Gjilan, May 3, 2025

Organized by the Cultural Association “Days of Agim”, and under the auspices of the Municipality of Gjilan, the traditional event “Days of Agim”, was held today, in honor of the life and work of the hero Agim Ramadani, an event in which the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated.

Regarding the hero Agim Ramadani, the Prime Minister emphasized that he is among the martyrs who fell in the liberation war of the Albanian people for the freedom and independence of Kosovo, while adding that the martyrs of the nation are not immortalized in our collective memory and in the history of Kosovo only because of their act of falling, but also for their activities while they were alive, their commitment and their work in its entirety.

“Agim Ramadani is the most versatile profile whose military, political and artistic legacy continues to surprise us, as we see his photographs, poems, paintings and manuscripts. Agim Ramadani was therefore a poet, painter, political activist, military strategist, as well as a patriot with an artistic soul and a strong inspiration for today’s generations as well as for his companionship in the past”, said the Prime Minister.

At the central commemoration “We Sing to Agim”, in his speech, Prime Minister Kurti added that such manifestations prolong the life of memories with honors and gratitude to the lives of the martyrs of freedom and strengthen the bonds of these memories from one generation to the next.

“Because by remembering the martyrs among the living—how they were, while they were alive—we keep our memories of them alive, along with their example for us. I wish you a relaxing afternoon and a pleasant evening tonight, in these early days of spring this year, and I congratulate you for the preservation of “Days of Agim” manifestations.

Praise to Katana, the hero Agim Ramadani, together with the fallen and martyrs of the nation who fell for the freedom of Kosovo!” concluded Prime Minister Kurti.

Full speech of Prime Minister Kurti:

Honorable families of the nation’s martyrs,

Honorable Ramadani family,

Honorable Mrs. Shukrije Ramadani,

Honorable Mr. Qahil Halili, Chairman of the Zhegra Council,

Honorable Mayor of the Municipality of Gjilan, Mr. Alban Hyseni,

Honorable Members of the Assembly of the Republic, Mr. Anton Quni and Mrs. Arijeta Rexhepi,

Honorable invalids and veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army, friends and comrades of Agim Ramadani,

Dear residents of Zhegra and the Gjilan area,

I am glad to see that the tradition of organizing the cultural manifestation “Days of Agim” continues to be preserved and maintained over the years. This is because the martyrs of the nation who fell for the freedom of Kosovo are not immortalized in our collective memory and in the history of our country only because of their act of falling, but also because of their activity while they were alive, their commitment and their work in its entirety. Therefore, martyrs should not be remembered only on the anniversaries of their fall, but also throughout other days—on days like today, on every day, in fact, on the ordinary days when they were alive and lived among others just as we do among ourselves today.

And in this sense, among the martyrs who fell in the liberation war of the Albanian people for the freedom and independence of Kosovo, Agim Ramadani has the most versatile profile, whose military, political and artistic legacy still continues to surprise us, as we see his photographs, poems, paintings and manuscripts. Agim Ramadani was therefore a poet, painter, political activist, military strategist, as well as a patriot with an artistic soul and a strong inspiration for today’s generations as well as for his society in the past. Therefore, in manifestations such as “Ditët e Agimit”, a small football tournament, a snooker tournament, a karate tournament, a fishing competition, poetry reading, and a music concert are also organized.

Such manifestations prolong the life of memories with honors and gratitude to the lives of the martyrs of freedom and strengthen the bonds of these memories from one generation to the next. Because by remembering the martyrs among the living—how they were, while they were alive—we keep our memories of them alive, along with their example for us.

I wish you a relaxing afternoon and a pleasant evening tonight, in these early days of spring this year, and I congratulate you on preserving the “Days of Agim” manifestations.

Glory to Katana, to the hero Agim Ramadani, together with the fallen and martyrs of the nation who fell for the freedom of Kosovo!

Thank you!
