The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in the event marking the 10th anniversary of the Respect our Rights (ROR) group, during which he talked with members from the group.
He congratulated ROR for the active role they play in protecting the rights of all children in Kosovo without distinction, as well as the organizations Save the Children and Syri i Vizioni for their continuous support for the establishment and operation of ROR, but also for the tireless work in the field of child and youth protection.
Furthermore, the prime minister emphasized the steps taken by the government during this mandate, with the aim of improving conditions and living conditions for children and young people. He singled out the allowances for children under the age of 16, where so far we have over 400,000 children and over 60,000 expectant mothers who benefit from monthly support and the doubling of the number of young people employed. Only through the employment platform, SuperPuna, for less than two years, the Government employed over 14 thousand young people between the ages of 18-29, in 9,500 local businesses, where 51% of them are women, while through the Kosovo Generation Unlimited program opportunities were offered internship for 3 thousand young people.
In the following, he said that we have supported students in universities with scholarships worth over 10 million euros, of which students studying in the fields of STEM, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, elite students, students with disabilities and students studying abroad. The Prime Minister also added that today our country has more cultural centers and sports gyms, protected monuments and spaces for young people and children, while we have 250 investments in sports, art, youth and heritage infrastructure completed and in process.
For the support of youth and the involvement of children and young people in decision-making, we have the new Law on Youth. Three months since the Law entered into force, the package of by-laws has been drafted for the establishment of the Youth Development Agency, the recognition of youth work, the restructuring of Youth Councils, the operation of youth centers and the promotion of youth volunteering.
The Prime Minister invited the young people to submit their comments through the public consultation platform, until November 19, when the deadline is due, which will then be addressed, before approval and implementation.
