The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today paid tribute and placed a wreath of flowers on the coffin of the deceased, Ismail Kadare, at the state farewell ceremony held at the National Opera, Ballet and People’s Ensemble Theater in Tirana.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz and the Deputy Prime Minister, Emilija Rexhepi, together with ministers and deputy ministers of the government cabinet.
In the Book of Mourning, the prime minister wrote:
Grief is deep because admiration is high. History (with all the myths), politics (with all the intrigues), language (with all the beauty) with Ismail Kadare’s novels and poems became knowledge and awareness for our people. We are so fortunate to have him. His work shall live on, not just for us.
With longing and gratitude,
Albin Kurti
Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo
