Rezallë, April 5, 2025
On the 26th anniversary of the massacre in Rezallë, Skenderaj, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, commemorated 98 men and young boys who were shot by the armed forces of Serbia.
The families recalled the terrible days of April 1999, when Serbian forces, in an attempt to eradicate the crime, after killing civilians, kidnapped and disappeared their bodies. Some were found buried in mass graves in Kiževak and Rudnica, Raška, Serbia.
They recalled September 30, 2021, when the remains of seven of those killed in this massacre were returned to Kosovo from Kiževak, Serbia. Among them were two reunions with remains exhumed years ago from the mass grave in Rudnica, Serbia.
Prime Minister Kurti said that this and other massacres committed by Serbia are evidence of the genocide in Kosovo, which is also recognized worldwide. Therefore, the local justice system must act without delay and with determination, so that those responsible are tried and punished, he added.
Today and always, I call on international partners to demand from Serbia, as responsible for the murder and disappearance of our loved ones, the full disclosure of their fate, said Prime Minister Kurti.
He emphasized that by honoring the past, with justice for the victims and families, we are committed to the future of our Republic, where the new generations grow up free and safe.
