The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, paid a condolence visit to the family of the former political prisoner, Beqir Bilalli, who passed away on June 4.
Beqir Bilalli was a participant in the demonstrations of the 80s. He was arrested in August 1998 in Pristina, to be transferred first to Mitrovica prison, and then to Pozharevci prison. There, the late Beqir Bilalli and now Prime Minister Kurti had shared a prison room, and together they had faced the torture of the prison guards of the Belgrade regime.
The Prime Minister expressed his sincere condolences to the family and friends for their loss, as he shared with them his memories of the late Beqir Bilalli.
After his release from prison, Mr. Bilalli worked as a miner in Trepça until his retirement in February 2020. He died at the age of 69.
As a sign of gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visit, the family members presented the Prime Minister with a crystal from the Trepça mine.
