Prishtina, July 23, 2022
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has organized a reception for the participating artists of the nomadic biennial “Manifesta 14 Prishtina”, which started yesterday in Pristina.
The Prime Minister thanked the artists for their participation and contribution to the Manifesta, which for 100 days will be active, daily, in 25 places of exhibition of the artistic works of 103 artists from 30 countries.
He thanked the Kosovar artists who live in Kosovo and those who have returned to live during this Manifesta, because, according to the prime minister, this collaboration of local and international artists, and local artists who are in diaspora and local artists who are in the country, naturally increases the exchange and experience of all.
In particular, the Prime Minister thanked Ms Hedwig Fijen, who as a leader and organizer has worked hard for what we will experience during these 100 days.
There are 99 days left, so we are counting down; on the one hand, we are happy that we have so many days ahead of us, but on the other hand, we are saddened by each passing day, because each day is unrepeatable for the experiences and feelings we gain from Manifesta, said the Prime Minister
Prime Minister Kurti’s full speech:
Good day everyone,
Thank you very much for coming to this reception, within the Manifesta, which for 100 days will be active, every day in 25 places of exhibition of artistic works of artists from 30 countries, a total of 103 of them, changing the capital of our Republic and certainly revealing it to us even better, even more beautiful.
In particular, I want to congratulate Ylli, who did not have to try too hard to convince me to write the letter of support for Prishtina to host the Manifesta.
However, it can no longer be said that we are so sure who are the hosts and who are the guests. The border is fading fast as we welcome artists from abroad, at the same time welcome to Manifesta, which presents an extraordinary cultural and artistic event that started on a wonderful evening yesterday.
In particular, I want to thank Ms Fijen, who as a leader and organizer has worked hard for what we will experience during these 100 days. There are 99 days left, so we are counting down; on the one hand, we are happy that we have so many days ahead of us, but on the other hand, we are saddened by each passing day, because each day is unrepeatable for the experiences and feelings we gain from Manifesta.
I would also like to greet the Mayor of Palermo and the Italian Ambassador, His Excellency Antonelle De Riu, who have honored us with their presence today. I also want to thank the Kosovar artists who live in Kosovo and those who have returned to live during this Manifesta, because this collaboration of local and international artists and local artists who are in diaspora and local artists who are in the country naturally increases the exchange and the experience of all of us and each one.
I’m sorry it’s so hot, but it’s not just the weather’s fault, it’s our fault too, who have done so much together in a place that seems to have been small for the occasion.
Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for the contribution so far and for the commitment you are making for each other, to express yourself and for society and the community in general.
Thank you
