The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted lunch for the Olympic champion, Shaban Tërstena.
Shaban Tërstena is the first Albanian athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games. He achieved this success exactly 40 years ago, in 1984 in Los Angeles in the -52kg category in wrestling when he was only 19 years old, becoming then the youngest wrestler in the world to win an Olympic gold medal. He achieved great success at the next Olympic Games in 1988 in Seoul, where he won the silver medal. In addition to his Olympic successes, he also has one World medal, seven European medals and three consecutive gold medals at the 1983, 1987 and 1991 Mediterranean Games.
Together with the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Daulina Osmani brought to mind the main achievements of Mr. Trstena, his preparations, challenges of the time. They talked about the potential and expectations for Albanian athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games that will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. They also discussed the preparations that the state of Kosovo is making for the organization and hosting of the 2030 Mediterranean Games.
