The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received today in the Government building, the Senior Advisor of the American Department of State, Derek Chollet, who is staying in Kosovo today as part of his visit to the region.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti informed Mr. Chollet about the work and achievements of the government in the year just passed. He shared with him the latest economic and democratic indicators in the country, and underlined the common goals for development and democratization. Prime Minister Kurti thanked the High Councilor, Chollet for the visit, continuous communication and for his commitment. The United States of America is an indispensable partner and ally of the Republic of Kosovo, said Prime Minister Kurti, as he emphasized the country’s goals for an even stronger partnership with the United States of America and integration into NATO.
The dialogue process, the European plan and the relations between Kosovo and Serbia were also discussed. The need for active and constructive engagement in dialogue and for intensifying efforts towards the full normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia with mutual recognition at the center was emphasized.
In the meeting Mr. Chollet was accompanied by the American special envoy, the United States Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, Gabriel Escobar, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European Policy and NATO, Spencer Boyer, the United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, Chief of Staff to Counselor Chollet, Laura Updegrove, Special Assistant to Counselor, Dr. Florence Akinyemi and the Political and Economic Counselor at the American Embassy in Kosovo, Ralan Hill.
Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied by the first deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, the deputy prime minister and the minister of foreign affairs and diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, the Acting Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group of the VETËVENDOSJE! Movement, Mimoza Kusari Lila, the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Luan Dalipi, Political Advisor to the Prime Minister, Jeton Zulfaj and Government Spokesman, Përparim Kryeziu.
