The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted the shadow Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy.
In the warm conversation, they recalled the developments of 1999 and the decisive role of Great Britain in the liberation of Kosovo under the leadership of Labor Tony Blair and Robin Cook. The Prime Minister thanked Mr. Lammy for the continued contribution of Great Britain to Kosovo.
In this meeting, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the progress in Kosovo, mentioning the fact that despite the world crisis with the COVID-19 pandemic and the energy crisis, Kosovo’s economy has recorded significant growth. Together with the improvements in the indices of democracy and the rule of law that rank Kosovo first in the Western Balkans, Kosovo is an ideal place for investments for companies from Great Britain looking for near-shoring, the Prime Minister emphasized.
Prime Minister Kurti singled out the opportunities for increasing commercial exchange between Kosovo and Great Britain, as well as investments in the energy sector.
While Mr. Lammy offered his cooperation, he emphasized the need to identify as many areas of cooperation and partnership between the two countries, so that Great Britain can help Kosovo as much as possible.
The meeting also discussed current issues, including dialogue and the need for normalization of relations with Serbia, as well as security issues.
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the need for increased cooperation between the security institutions of Kosovo and Great Britain in the fight against malicious actors who aim to destabilize Kosovo and the region.
