Collective memory and the power of literature to keep it alive were discussed in today’s meeting between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the author Blerina Rogova Gaxha.
There was a discussion about the book “Memory and Trauma: Memory of the 1998-1999 war in Albanian literature in Kosovo”, by the author Blerina Rogova Gaxha. This project supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports was appreciated for its importance in preserving and remembering our past.
Prime Minister Kurti reiterated the Government’s commitment to the protection and preservation of collective memory, which will also serve future generations after us. The importance of dealing with the past was emphasized as a healing process and healthy mechanism for social progress.
Author Rogova Gaxha said that “Memory and Trauma” researches and interprets the transmission and circulation of war memory and traumatic memories in literature, with the aim of bringing results that prove the importance of literature as a medium of cultural memory to keep collective memory of the war alive.
