In his statement, Prime Minister Kurti revealed that in order to materialize this urgent request of the Court employees and the citizens of Gjakova, he has been fully committed during the last three years to complete the works started since 2015. The building, where almost two million euros were invested, represents a new era for justice in the Gjakova region, he added.

“Along with the Minister of Justice, we were welcomed by the chairman Nikolle Komani, who on this occasion presented to us the new premises, which are connected to the city’s heating system; then they have central air conditioning and, where each of the 18 judges has their own separate office, while two professional collaborators have an office,” the Prime Minister said.

According to the Prime Minister, the new building for 31 judges will establish a renewed trust in Kosovo’s judiciary by enhancing efficiency, integrity, and providing good working conditions, allowing the citizens of Gjakova to access their rights and seek justice in relevant cases.

Thanking chairman Komani for presenting the new facility with great dedication, Prime Minister Kurti wished good work to all judges, professional associates, staff and citizens.

Prime Minister Kurti’s full speech:

We are here in the reception hall of the new building of the Basic Court of Gjakova, which also has two branches, in Rahovec and Malisheva. It’s a home for a total of 31 judges, 18 of whom are here in Gjakova and is located on the same street as the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office, thus presenting a very important and valuable pillar of the rule of law and the democratic state-building of the Republic of Kosovo.

Along with the Minister of Justice, we were welcomed by the chairman Nikolle Komani, who on this occasion presented to us the new premises, which are connected to the city’s heating system; then they have central air conditioning and, where each of the 18 judges has their own separate office, while two professional collaborators have an office.

The lighting is very suitable for work, the equipment is modern, the conditions are dignified, and undoubtedly this is very good news for the employees of the Basic Court, as well as for the citizens of the Gjakova region.

I was here with the chairperson of our parliamentary group, MP Mimoza Kusari-Lila and MP Agon Batusha, to make sure that we have a building in which the citizens of Gjakova will have a place for their rights but also for justice for whatever that may have happened so that the new building marks a new confidence in the judiciary of Kosovo through the efficiency and integrity that already has good physical working conditions here.

This building started in 2015, however, it has been dragging on for too long. We have worked diligently over these three years, with investments close to two million euros, and we have finally inaugurated this building that marks a new era for justice in the Gjakova region. We wish good work and happiness to the judges, professional colleagues, and staff here at the Basic Court of Gjakova, and to all citizens.

I thank once again Chairman Nikolla for this warm welcome and for this presentation with so much dedication of this new facility where surely even greater and better things will be done for the good of all citizens.
