Viti, May 6, 2025
After visiting Gjilan, the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, and representatives from the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF), visited the municipality of Viti, where they observed firsthand the investments being made in educational facilities and social housing, which directly affect the improvement of the lives of citizens.
Through an investment of around 600 thousand euros, four schools are being renovated: “28 Nëntori”, “Njazi Rexhepi”, “Mirali Sejdiu”, “Dëshmorët e Lubishtës” and also the Career Center.
Today, two of these facilities were visited; the “28 Nëntori” School, built in 2005, and “Njazi Rexhepi” School, built in 2010.
In addition to these ongoing projects in the Municipality of Viti, renovations have also been successfully completed in three other schools “Bafti Haxhiu” in Viti; “Ndre Mjeda” in Kabash and “Hysen Tërpeza” in Tërpeza with an additional investment of 312 thousand euros.
These projects are part of a comprehensive program of the Government to increase efficiency at the national level and are being implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, with 90% support from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo through the European Union, and municipal participation of 10%.
Prime Minister Kurti’s speech on social housing:
We are here with the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli and the leaders of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, in the municipality of Viti, at a social housing that was built in 2013 but did not have dignified conditions. Now, after the renovations we are doing, they will be cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and this total investment in two buildings is close to 600 thousand euros, for 55 families, or for approximately 200 residents of Viti. The first building was built in 2013, while the other building was built in 1993. There are 25 families in the first one and there are 30 families in the second, and in this building behind me, built in 2013, the total area is 1662 square meters, while in the other one it is almost twice as large, 3238 square meters.
We want to have good, pleasant housing for the residents, especially for the single mothers who are also heads of families that we had the opportunity to meet, because they raise their children here, of course, they want to have good living conditions and for this very reason I thank the Ministry of Economy for the investments it is making, from external insulation, thermal insulation and replacement of windows to new roofs.
It is good news for the Municipality of Viti, as well as for these families who are of course transforming their lives in the same building.
Prime Minister Kurti’s statement at “Njazi Rexhepi” school:
After the “28 Nëntori” school, which was built 20 years ago, we are here at “Njazi Rexhepi” school, which was built approximately 15 years ago and in the Municipality of Viti, as a Government, we are investing 600 thousand euros in the renovation of a total of 4 schools and a career center. It should be noted that both of these schools, after the interventions, will save over 70 percent of electricity, will significantly reduce operating costs and will also improve conditions for 500 students and teachers.
Together with Minister Artane Rizvanolli and also with the head of the public sector projects unit at the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, Njomza Maraj, we observed the works being carried out, the external insulation, the replacement of windows, the change of the boiler from wood to pellet, as well as the thermal insulation.
Therefore, it was a pleasure to see how schools are being transformed in terms of increasingly dignified conditions for living, housing, and work, but we expect that this will also be reflected in overall well-being and in the quality of teaching and learning.
