The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, while staying in Athens, held a friendly meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

One of the main topics of this discussion was the bilateral issues between Kosovo and the European Union, with special emphasis on the implementation of reforms. The Growth Plan for the Western Balkans (EU Growth Plan), presented by President Von der Leyen herself in Bratislava, the implementation of agreements from the Common Regional Market within the framework of the Berlin Process, as well as the dialogue in Brussels were among the main topics of discussion.

Prime Minister Kurti said that Kosovo has made economic progress this year as well. He emphasized that the real economic growth for the first quarter of 2023 is 3.9%. In the first half of 2023, revenues have increased by 15.8%. Meanwhile, he underlined that inflation has fallen from 11.9% in January to 2.8% in June. Inflation this year is estimated to be 5.2%.

He recalled the meeting in Bratislava on July 10 for de-escalation and emphasized that for about two months there have been no incidents or violent protests in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, while we also have an increased number of workers in the municipal buildings. Kosovo has implemented its commitments and it is important for the EU to remove the measures.

Furthermore, in the conversation, he paid attention to the importance of implementing the agreements, including the agreements within the Common Regional Market that were signed in Berlin last November as part of the Berlin Process.

Prime Minister Kurti tonight will participate in the dinner invited by the Greek Prime Minister, Mitsotakis, for the leaders of the Western Balkans, which is being held on the 20th anniversary of the Thessaloniki Summit.
