The Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its regular meeting today during which it:
– Approved the decision to allocate one-time supplements of 100 euros for children aged 0-16 and pensioners.
– Approved the Extracts of the Minutes and Transcript from Meeting No.: 233 as well as the extracts from the minutes of Meetings No.: 236 and 237 conducted electronically/by correspondence by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
– Approved the Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of the Office of the National Coordinator for Protection from Domestic Violence, Violence against Women, and Gender-Based Violence, as well as the Functioning of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Group. This regulation, as one of the measures of the National Strategy for Protection from Domestic Violence and Violence against Women, aims to ensure better institutional coordination and guarantee the effective implementation of policies and measures designed to protect against domestic violence and violence against women.
– Amended and supplemented Decision No. 18/208 dated 13 June 2024, concerning the implementation of international sanctions by the Republic of Kosovo in relation to international obligations against individuals and entities linked to or responsible for actions that undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. In line with the implementing decisions of the Council of the European Union and in accordance with the EU’s stance on the coordination of international sanctions against Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine, the adoption of restrictive measures against individuals and entities connected to or responsible for undermining and threatening Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence was recommended.
– Approved the preliminary decision for expropriation of immovable property for public interest purposes related to the needs of the Customs Terminal in Merdare. Customs terminals continue to be reclaimed by the state, benefiting all parties.
– Approved the decision regarding amendments to the rules of origin in line with the decisions of the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Convention on (Preferential) Rules of Origin. These proposed changes represent a strategic opportunity to expand exports, enhance the competitiveness of domestic industries and attract new investments. At the same time, they strengthen regional economic integration and contribute to creating sustainable supply chains.
– Approved the decision to request the President of the Republic of Kosovo to grant authorization to the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade to sign the intergovernmental agreement with Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Kingdom of Norway, and the Swiss Confederation, which represent the “European Free Trade Association – EFTA. The signing of this agreement is an important step in advancing economic and trade relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the EFTA member states. Through this agreement, local companies will benefit by gaining the opportunity to increase their exports with free access to EFTA markets.
– Approved the Strategy for Integrated Waste Management in the Republic of Kosovo 2024–2035 and the Action Plan 2024–2026. The strategy aims to achieve a 50% recycling rate of waste by 2035 and reduce landfilling to below 10% by 2045. With this strategy, waste management will be transformed from landfilling to recycling and reuse, consequently creating jobs, preserving the environment, and supporting the country’s sustainable development.
