Podujeva, May 20, 2025
Following a visit to the Podujeva Municipality building, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the acting Deputy Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Jeton Raka, Members of the Assembly, and the Mayor of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi, laid the foundation stone for the Affordable and Social Housing Complex in this municipality.
This complex will include a total of 133 housing units—106 of which will be affordable housing units, and 27 will be designated for social housing. The total construction area will be 20,180.01 m². The apartments will be of four types: 53 m², 66 m², 77 m², and 87 m². The project value is approximately €13.6 million, and construction is expected to be completed within 3 years. The project is being carried out in cooperation between the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure and the Municipality, where the Municipality contributes with the location and accompanying infrastructure, while the capital investment and supervision of construction works are provided by the Ministry.
“Housing is a fundamental human right, and that is why we are working across Kosovo so that citizens can have dignified living conditions and proper homes for their families,” stated the Prime Minister during the laying of the foundation stone.
While noting that today is a joyful day for Podujeva residents who still haven’t resolved their housing situation, he expressed regret that only 13 out of 38 municipalities have applied for the Affordable and Social Housing project. He added that this proves the government’s offer is greater than the demand from municipalities.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, the Mayor of the Municipality, Mr. Bulliqi, municipal directorates, and other attendees for their work and contributions leading up to the inauguration of this important project—for both the municipality and the citizens of the Republic.
