Acting First Deputy Prime Minister in Office for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, welcomed the Minister for European Affairs of Denmark, Marie Bjerre, in a meeting today. The Minister was also accompanied by the Ambassador to Kosovo, Christian Grønbech-Jensen, and the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Jonas Bering Liisberg.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked Denmark for its continued support and encouragement for Kosovo in the international arena and our journey towards membership in international organizations and towards European integration.

He emphasized the importance of Kosovo’s advancement on the path towards the European Union, as our country applied for membership in December 2022 and in the last four years has made progress in implementing reforms within the framework of the European integration process.

He also spoke about the democratic progress that the country has experienced, as evidenced by international indices of economic growth, the fight against corruption, the rule of law, and freedom of expression. He singled out the information technology sector as an area with great potential for Kosovo, with this sector leading in terms of the increasing percentage of IT services exports, while also underlining that during this mandate we have doubled foreign direct investments.

They also discussed the geopolitical situation in Europe and current events in the country and the region, while Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi underlined Kosovo’s ongoing commitment, dedication, and strategic orientation for membership in the European Union, NATO, and the Council of Europe.
