The First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, welcomed in a bilateral meeting the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade Exchange and Humanitarian Action Cooperation of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel.
After the meeting between them, the joint meeting between the delegations continued, where Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hajrulla Çeku and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Bardhyl Dobra, while Deputy Prime Minister Bettel was accompanied by Luxembourg’s charge d’affaires in Kosovo, Eric Dietz.
During the talks, the current bilateral agreement between our two countries, areas of cooperation and joint projects which are being implemented together with our ministries were discussed.
The ministers presented the developments in the implementation of Luxembourg’s support as well as the opportunities for further cooperation in the respective fields of their departments.
Within these areas covered by our current bilateral agreement with Luxembourg, projects were discussed about youth empowerment, vocational training (VET), improving the health system, digitalization, supporting businesses and innovation, supporting our transition to green energy . During the meeting, respect for democratic principles and human rights, the rule of law and good governance were also emphasized as an integral part of the agreement. The equipping of our assembly with the electronic voting system was mentioned among other things as a success from this agreement, which has already been completed, while the other components are being implemented.
In the following, the expansion of cooperation and potential areas where we can deepen our joint engagement were discussed.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi briefly acquainted his counterpart with the economic growth and democratic progress that the country has had in this governing mandate and some of the policies undertaken, with the aim of developing the country and inclusiveness. He singled out the drop in the unemployment rate from 23.8%, which was before our arrival in government, to only 10.8% now, as well as underlining the support for increasing employment for women and young people through the Superpuna platform.
