The first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, welcomed in a farewell meeting the Special Representative of Norway for the Western Balkans, Haakon Blankenborg, who was also accompanied by his successor in this position, Eirik Nestås Mathisen.
Initially, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi expressed his gratitude for Norway’s unwavering support and assistance to Kosovo. Further, there was a discussion on the situation in the country and the progress of the last four years, where the deputy prime minister emphasized, among other things, economic growth, increased employment with emphasis on young people and women, support for the first time through allowances for children and expectant mothers, the beginning of the positive balance operation of public enterprises, or even the rule of law.
Other achievements that were the focus of the conversation were the success with the liberalization of visas, the work developed within the Growth Plan or even the high ranking of Kosovo in international measurements and indices that stand as evidence of the country’s democratic development.
The recent achievement of the Free Trade Agreement with the EFTA member states, of which Norway is a member, was also appreciated, thus increasing the opportunities for greater economic and commercial exchanges and cooperation between us. In this regard, the importance of regional cooperation was emphasized, along with deepening the cooperation of the countries of the Western Balkans with other European countries.
