Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Daulina Osmani, welcomed the winners of the Volunteer of the Year Awards, which are awarded by TOKA organization to changemakers who have made an extraordinary contribution to society.
The Volunteer of the Year Awards are an initiative of TOKA organization – supported by 50 stakeholders from the local and international community – which aims to recognize, promote and expand participation in volunteerism. Out of 100 nominations, last year, 8 winners were awarded for extraordinary contribution and 7 special recognitions were awarded in seven different categories. Of these, present at today’s meeting were Gazmend Hasani, the Most Courageous Volunteer of the Year; Dion Istrefi, the Most Creative Volunteer of the Year; Viola Maksuti, Volunteer of the Year; Bujar Neziri, winner of the Most Supporting Diaspora Ambassador of the Year Award; Donika Shahini-Lami, winner of the Most Supporting Public Figure of the Year Award; and Liridona Syla from Kutia Company, winner of the Most Supporting Business of the Year Award, accompanied by the Executive Director of TOKA organization and the Head of the Development Program in this organization, Fjolla Shaqiri.
Prime Minister Kurti congratulated the guests on the awards and commended them for their extraordinary commitment. The meeting emphasized the importance of involvement in volunteer work, especially for young people, but at the same time the promotion and recognition of volunteer work in the community and society.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti supported the 2024 Volunteerism Awards campaign with a promotional video calling for nominations from citizens and entities that have engaged in or supported volunteerism in the country. As one of the campaign stakeholders, the Prime Minister’s Office, represented by Mirlinda Lushtaku, Senior Policy Coordination Officer at the Government Coordination Secretariat, participated in the evaluation of nominations. Meanwhile, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, attended the conference announcing the winners on December 5, 2024.
