Prishtina, December 31, 2024
On the last day of 2024, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku and the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, visited the Islamic Community of Kosovo (BIK) during the day, where they were welcomed by its President, Mufti Naim Tërnava.
They discussed the close cooperation between the Government and BIK, both between the Ministry of Justice with the Department of Women at BIK, as well as for the protection of Islamic cultural heritage through the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and ICK.
The preservation of Islamic heritage in Kosovo has been a priority during the Government. Many mosques in Kosovo are now in better condition and serve believers and visitors, as a result of professional restorations in less than four years. This year alone, restoration projects have been drafted for five mosques, while in the 2025-2027 budget, 4.22 million euros have been allocated for only six mosques.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked Mufti Tërnava and the Islamic Community of Kosovo for their invaluable contribution, continued cooperation and willingness to continue and deepen it in the coming years.
