The official meetings in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were started by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Deputy Prime Minister Emilija Rexhepi, with Denis Bećirović, the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who is also the Chairman of the Presidency, and Željko Komšić, the Croatian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In two consecutive meetings at the Presidency building, relations between the two countries and ways to increase trade cooperation were discussed, on which occasion the possibility of organizing a joint economic forum was examined, and to increase exchanges in culture and education. The Prime Minister emphasized that the announcement by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo that from January 1 next year, in less than a month, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to travel to Kosovo with ID cards, will greatly contribute to the growth of cooperation and friendship between the two countries. He also emphasized the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina ratifying the mobility agreement for free movement resulting from the Berlin Process, so that the benefits from free movement are mutual.
During the meetings, the latest developments in the respective countries and in the region were also discussed, and the importance of regional cooperation, especially within the framework of the Berlin Process, with the aim of integrating the Western Balkans into the European Union and confronting malicious external influences.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked Mr. Bećirović and Mr. Komšić for the hospitality in Sarajevo and the open and productive conversation. To the Prime Minister, gratitude was expressed for the rapid response and financial assistance that the Republic of Kosovo had provided in dealing with the tragic floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the month of October, and for the declaration of July 11 as the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the meetings at the Presidency, the Prime Minister will continue his visit with meetings at the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
