The visit of the First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, to Poland began with a meeting with the Chairwoman of the Committee on European Union Affairs in the Polish Parliament, Agnieszka Pomaska, held at the Polish Parliament building.
Together they discussed the strengthening and deepening of relations between our two countries, while the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the friendly state of Poland for its continued support for Kosovo. He highlighted the support in our journey towards integration into the European Union as well as the support in membership in the Council of Europe.
Regarding Kosovo’s path towards the EU, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the advancement and progress made by Kosovo in the last four years and our aim to move forward in this process, through receiving the questionnaire and consequently the status of a candidate country for membership in the European Union, in light of the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU that Poland will chair from 1 January 2025.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Kosovo has experienced economic and democratic progress, despite the barriers we have faced. He also dealt with the work developed within the Growth Plan, the achievement of visa liberalization and the country’s development potential.
For her part, Ms. Pomaska expressed Poland’s support for the Western Balkans region and the enlargement process, and said that Poland has supported Kosovo since its independence and continues to do so today.
The joint goal of strengthening relations between Kosovo and Poland and expanding areas of cooperation was emphasized. At this meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi was accompanied by the Head of the Kosovo Mission in Poland, Ambassador Drilon Gashi.
