The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed today the Labor MPs, Emma Lewell Buck, Paul Foster, Fabian Hamilton, David Taylor, who are members of the Miqtë Laboriste te Kosoves (Labour Friends of Kosova) group, and Reg Pula, Executive Director of Labor Friends of Kosovo group.
Besides the welcome, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his deep gratitude for the unwavering support of the United Kingdom – not only for our independence, but also for the continued development of the country and the strengthening of its international position. Kosovo and the United Kingdom share common fundamental values: commitment to democracy, human rights, peace and security in the region, Prime Minister Kurti said during the meeting. Speaking about governance, the prime minister emphasized that Kosovo and its government are a good example of how social democrats increase the economy and advance democracy.
The Prime Minister emphasized the important role that the Labor Party has played in critical moments for the people and the state of Kosovo, in the liberation of the country in 1999 and in the declaration of independence in 2008. The Labor MPs emphasized that the United Kingdom and Kosovo are connected through friendship and partnership but also our diaspora there.
The meeting also discussed bilateral relations between Kosovo and the United Kingdom and new opportunities for cooperation with the new Labor government.
Together with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, the Ambassador of Kosovo to the United Kingdom, Ilir Kapiti, and the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Saranda Bogujevci, were present at this meeting.
“Labor Friends of Kosovo” is a group of Labor Parliamentarians in the United Kingdom, with the aim of promoting strong bilateral relations between Kosovo and the United Kingdom. In February of this year, Prime Minister Kurti participated in the inauguration of the “Labor Friends of Kosova” initiative in London.
