After their meeting in New York at the end of last month, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, now welcomed in Pristina the Assistant Secretary of the United States of America for the Western Balkans, Alexander Kasanof. The latter was accompanied in this meeting by the US ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey M. Hovenier.
Prime Minister Kurti welcomed Mr. Kasanof, in his first visit to the country, expressed his high appreciation for the strong bilateral relations between Kosovo and the United States of America and their contribution to the liberation, independence and development of our country.
He added that with the United States of America we share common values and goals, as friends, allies and partners, which is also reflected by the desire and perception of the citizens of our country. Prime Minister Kurti thanked the United States of America for the cooperation in the field of economy, energy, security and beyond. He also emphasized the democratic, economic and social progress that our country has seen during this governing mandate, in which case he highlighted the importance of security and the rule of law.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the necessity of regional cooperation in anticipation of the Berlin Process summit next Monday, where he addressed the need to implement the agreement on free movement between Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which contributes to the citizens of both countries.
Speaking about bilateral relations, Prime Minister Kurti addressed the possibilities of cooperation with the new emissary Alexander Kasanof as well as our European partners after the elections held and the new commissioners. He added the importance of Kosovo’s membership in international organizations and bilateral cooperation with the United States of America in this regard.
During the meeting, the dialogue with Serbia was also discussed, where the Prime Minister expressed the constructiveness of Kosovo in the process and the need for the full and immediate implementation of the Basic Agreement of Brussels and the Implementing Annex of Ohrid.
In this meeting, Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Kreshnik Ahmeti.
