The first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, hosted the EU’s special emissary, Miroslav Lajçak, at the meeting.
The discussions during the meeting focused on three main topics: the agreement and preparations for the next meeting at the level of chief negotiators, the developments regarding the opening of the main bridge of Mitrovica over the Iber River and the way forward with the sequencing plan for the implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the Implementation Annex.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi emphasized that the opening of the main bridge of Mitrovica over the Iber is a matter addressed and agreed upon in Brussels, within the dialogue process mediated by the European Union, and that it should be opened according to the existing agreement and the conclusions of the European Commission’s own report. of 2020, which estimates that the work on the bridge has been completed and it should be opened without further delays and obstacles.
He underlined that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has continuously engaged as a constructive party in the dialogue. As such, it remains committed to full and unconditional implementation of the Basic Agreement and the Annex and is convinced that its signature is the appropriate and necessary guarantee for full implementation by Serbia and accountability for its ongoing violations.
