On the occasion of World Sports and Environment Day, the “Olympic Tree 2024” was planted in the courtyard of the Government building today. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Daulina Osmani, and the President of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, Ismet Krasniqi, took part in the ceremony.
On the eve of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, Prime Minister Kurti wished success to the boxer and the five judokas who will represent the Republic of Kosovo in the games.
“With the number of inhabitants that we have, with only two participations in the Olympic Games, we can have three Olympic medals. We are unparalleled, unfollowed by anyone else and we hope that this motivates us now for the next successes for new victories, in Paris from the end of July to the beginning of August”, said the Prime Minister.
On the other hand, the President of the Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi, appreciated the planting of the “Olympic Tree 2024” as a symbol of great significance, which also consists in preserving the environment.
“This is the first time that this tree is being planted in the courtyard of the Prime Minister’s building, and I believe that with this greenery and this will, we will have success in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games”, he said, thanking the Government of Kosovo and in particular the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports for the continuous support.
The planting of the “Olympic Tree” has already become a traditional symbol which is planted every year in the courtyards of various institutions of Kosovo.

Together with the president of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, Ismet Krasniqi, we just planted the tree, here in the courtyard of the Government on the eve of the next Olympic Games that will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, and in which the Republic of Kosovo participates with five judokas and one boxer. This is the third participation of Kosovo in the Olympic Games. From the two previous participations, we have three medals, even if we compare the population of our country and the number of participations in the Olympic games, Kosovo is a case like no other around the globe. So, with the number of inhabitants that we have, with only two participations in the Olympic Games, we have three Olympic medals. We are unparalleled, unfollowed, by no one else and we hope that this motivates us now for the next successes for new victories, in Paris from the end of July to the beginning of August, but then at the end of August and at the beginning of September will also start the Paralympic games where the Republic of Kosovo also participates.
I thank the President of the Olympic Committee that this time, the 14th time, this traditional tree that is planted every year in various institutions of the Republic in their respective courtyards will now be in the courtyard of the Government here at the Prime Minister’s building.
