Prime Minister Kurti’s complete speech:
Today, May 7, 26 years have passed since the heroic fall of the nation’s martyr, Bahri Fazliu-Gzimi.
He was killed in battle in direct confrontation with the Serbian enemy forces in Bogić, in the country which is located on the border of Kosovo with Albania and Montenegro. So a significant place which is also in line with the ideals of Bahri Fazliu – Gzimi, for liberation and national unity.
Bahri Fazliu is not only a martyr of the nation but also an outstanding activist, a liberation fighter and an artist, singer, instrumentalist and poet who has left many writings, he has left many poems, which never run out of relevance, because they show how freedom is more valuable, more expensive than life and how to liberate the people against injustices, slavery, against occupiers, oppressors and exploiters, resistance must be organized until the final defeat of the people, the nation, the society and the citizens.
Therefore, even today, with Bahri Fazliu’s associates of that time, with his family members, with ministers of our government, with MPs, with citizens, with activists, we come and pay our respects here, never forgetting that the greatest work, the most serious, the most difficult, the main one, was carried out by the nation’s martyrs. We also have important work, but these are the smallest part of the work. Anyway, on the same road, which they paved, with their blood and from today we have our state and the freedom we enjoy.
Glory to Bahri Fazliu – Gzimit and all the martyrs of the Albanian nation!
