The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci, paid tribute today in the premises of the Assembly of Kosovo, near the coffin of the former deputy of the Assembly of Kosovo, and the former mayor of Peja, Ali Lajçi.
Remembering the life and work of Ali Lajçi, Prime Minister Kurti wrote in the book of mourning that since his youth he was devoted to the national cause, teaching us how the homeland should be loved.
“Since his early youth, he never stopped being active for the national cause. He tried hard. He suffered a lot. He has taught us how to protect the country with work and commitment, in battles with sacrifice. He smiles at us eternally from the photo, forever inspiring us on the path of freedom, justice and equality.
I bow with longing for Baca Ali, the mayor of Peja and the deputy of the Republic, Ali Lajçi!”, wrote Prime Minister Kurti.
Born on 3 January, 1955 in Malaj i Rugova, Ali Lajçi has been politically active throughout his life. After the war in Kosovo, Ali Lajçi was the Mayor of the Municipality of Peja between 2001 and 2007. After that he was elected a deputy in the Assembly of Kosovo. Ali Lajçi was also one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo, on 17 February, 2008
