The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, paid tribute today at the tombstone in Vraniq, Gjakova, in honor of the martyrs of the Lleshi family, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of their death.

The Lleshi family, Prime Minister Kurti said, has made valuable contributions and continuous sacrifices even in the uprisings and liberation wars before the last one, to which the Kosovo Liberation Army was subordinate.

“Today we are here in Vraniq of Gjakova to pay homage, to pay respects, to bow down, to commemorate the heroic fall of the martyrs of the Lleshi family, Mark and Kola, who here exactly 25 years ago that is, on August 7, 1998, protecting their homes, population, and lands, they fell heroically, in direct confrontation with Serbian enemy forces,” he said.
Exalting the contribution of this family, the Prime Minister highlighted that the Lleshi family is a working family in peace and a fighter for liberation, in times of war.

“That’s why today we also remember them with much longing and sadness but of course also with pride and responsibility that on the one hand we had these boys from Kosovo for Kosovo and the entire Albanian nation and on the other hand with responsibility as state institutions that we must never forget where does freedom, liberation, independence of the state come from and that future generations should live much better with an army that protects us”, said the Prime Minister.

In these tributes, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Enterprise and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, the Minister of Defense, Armend Mehaj and the MP Agon Batusha.

The Prime Minister’s complete statement:

The Lleshi family has made valuable contributions and continuous sacrifices in the uprisings and liberation wars before the latter, of which the Kosovo Liberation Army was subordinate.

Today we are here in Vraniq of Gjakova to pay homage, to pay respects, to bow down, to commemorate the heroic fall of the martyrs of the Lleshi family, Mark and Kola, who here exactly 25 years ago on August 7, 1998, defending their homes, population, and lands, fell heroically, in direct confrontation with Serbian enemy forces. On January 28 of the next year, we will also mark the 25th anniversary of Preni and Mema, i.e. the two other martyrs of the same family who died heroically in the battle of Godemi. It is a family that has given a lot, a family that is a worker in peace and a fighter for liberation, in times of war, even today we remember them with much longing and sorrow but of course also with pride and responsibility that on one side we had these boys from Kosovo for Kosovo and the entire Albanian nation and on the other hand with responsibility as institutions of the state that we must never forget where freedom, liberation, independence of the state comes from and that future generations must live much better with an army that protects us that’s why in addition to Minister Rozeta Hajdari, Minister Armend Mehaj is also here with me. Albanians have always wanted to have an army that protects them in difficult times of war and that makes them proud in times of peace, and this is our security force.
