Suhodoll, 15 July, 2023

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci, participated in the beginning of the harvesting campaign in the Republic of Kosovo.

In the village of Suhodoll, in the land planted by farmer Valon Vehapi, Prime Minister Kurti congratulated the work and said that they are working so that we can have our bread on our table from our land.

“We are very happy to have an exceptional summer in terms of both work and product. There are 66,000 hectares of land, which have been planted and must be harvested, but at the same time this is happening at a time when the subsidies, aid, and financial support that we provide to our farmers have increased like never before,” said the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci, after congratulating the beginning of the harvest, said that this year the Republic of Kosovo has a record crop since the post-war period.

“The Kosovo farmer is the most supported in the region. We have increased the performance with the crops and the level of satisfaction with the crops of the farmers, with the institutions and with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, is very satisfied”, said the Minister and added that all the reforms they have undertaken in terms of policies, legislation and increased support, simplification and procedures in the application process and others, would not be possible without the support of the Government, in this case Prime Minister Kurti.

Farmer Valon Vehapi, after thanking the Prime Minister and the Minister for the support, said that it is a blessed day, because bread is collected for the citizens of our country.

Prime Minister Kurti’s complete statement:

We are here together in Suhodoll with the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci, as well as with the farmer, Valon Vehap, who has 100 hectares of land, which he works. Of course, he rents them, he is not their owner, but he is a great worker and today we had the pleasure of being with the minister in these combines for harvesting wheat, in which case we are very happy to have an extraordinary summer in terms of both work and product. There are 66,000 hectares of land, which have been planted and must be harvested, but at the same time this is happening at a time when the subsidies, aid, and financial support that we provide to our farmers have increased like never before.

Thus, in addition to 150 euros per area, there are also 150 euros for fertilizing, that is, 150 euros per hectare, 150 euros for fertilizing a hectare and 120 euros for performance, for product, for yield. This is up to 4 tons per hectare. When it exceeds 4 tons per hectare, then we have 3 cents per kilogram and, even according to Professor Imer, everything is showing, the signs are, that we will reach 6 tons per hectare. Consequently, this 120 euros for performance, for yield will be able to be added to 180 euros and let’s not forget, we also have 54 euros, which is for oil, namely for the removal of excise duty from oil for agricultural machinery.

Allow me to congratulate the minister Faton Peci for the excellent work he is doing and the farmer Valon Vehapi, who is always there with his fellow workers, so that we can have our bread on our table from our land.

I was in a combine together with combine harvester Avni Berisha, while behind us was the one who is said to be the best combine harvester in Kosovo, Skender Hyseni, but maybe we should do some competition not only for sports for combine harvesters in the Republic of Kosovo, who have a lot of experience and a lot of achievements for agriculture, for the economy and for the well-being of our country.
