Podujeva, 3 July, 2023

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has visited the expansion works of the National Road N25, Pristina-Podujevë.

The Prishtina-Podujeva road is half a century old and there was a dire need for the Llap region to be connected to the capital in an efficient, fast and safe manner, said Prime Minister Kurti, adding that we will do our best to make this road finish as soon as possible. He emphasized that we are now well on the way to completing this expansion, which is important not only for the speed of the connection to the capital but also for the safety of all travelers, since as he pointed out, in recent years we have had many accidents with fatality.

Together with the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, the deputy minister of this ministry, Hysen Durmishi, as well as the Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, Shpejtim Bulliqi, the Prime Minister saw closely the works of the 15-kilometer road, a project worth 35 million euros.

Prime Minister Kurti congratulated Minister Aliu and Deputy Minister Durmishi for their commitment to preparations and planning, since the great delay existed precisely because they entered into execution without planning and without preparation.

Minister Liburn Aliu gave details about this project, showing that the Prishtina-Podujeva road expansion project is a project that has 5 lots, where 4 lots are expansion of the existing road, while the fifth lot is the finalization of the previous lot that is from Lluzhani to Podujeva.

“We are committed and determined that this road will be completed on time, to have quality works and, in parallel, for other projects, for which we have continuous delays from the past, which are being solved a for one, and also for the new projects that are waiting to start and come to us in the following months,” he said.

However, Deputy Minister Durmishi added that this is the first project that we as the Minister have carried out with all phases, from the design phase to the execution of the works, and we have taken all the measures for this project to be carried out with increased dynamics within deadlines that are defined in the contract so that there are no delays.

The Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, Shpejtim Bulliqi, thanking the Government of Kosovo for this great opportunity for the citizens, said that this is a long-awaited project, because this road caused a lot of traffic difficulties due to the large number of people of vehicles and citizens, who move towards Pristina.

Prime Minister Kurti’s complete statement:

Together with the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu and the Deputy of the Ministry, the Deputy Minister Hysen Durmishi as well as the mayor of Podujeva, professor Shpejtim Bulliqi, today we visited several points along the road which is being expanded and of all lengths about 15 kilometers in different lots. First to the point where from Bernica we connect to the roundabout with the highway, then from there to Vranidolle, Vranivolle-Lupç, Lupç-Lluzhanë. We inspected the works, saw the maps and also talked with the workers and the machine drivers about the work they are doing, which has a total value of about 35 million euros.

The Prishtina – Podujevë road is half a century old and it has been an urgent need of the Llap region to be connected to the capital in an efficient, fast and safe way, and we will do our best to finish this road as soon as possible. Of course, the number of days is around the number of days that are needed as working days to complete this, but now we are well on our way to complete this expansion, which is important not only for the speed of the connection with capital but also for the safety of all travelers as shown in the past years where we have had many fatal accidents, therefore I congratulate both Minister Liburn Aliu and Deputy Minister Hysen Durmishi for the commitment they have made and for the preparations and planning because the great delay existed precisely because they entered into execution without planning or preparation. Now we recovered it at maximum speed and the widening of the road will be done. We will of course continue with another visit that we will also make to the expansion of the Prishtina-Mitrovica road, which is also a very important artery for the state of Kosovo and for our people.
