Prishtina, 22 May, 2023

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated today in the graduation ceremony of R.I.T Kosova students, Class of 2023.

At the opening of this ceremony, Prime Minister Kurti said that he is pleased to be present and that together they are sharing the joy of this important achievement for each of them.
In front of the students, he said that there is little time left until you have your diplomas in your hands, and you know that the diploma you will receive today is very valuable. According to him, the diploma is a physical proof of the result of your academic work in these four years. At the same time, it also represents your perseverance to overcome the challenges you have faced during this journey.

Speaking about the challenges and difficulties faced by students, such as the one with the Covid-19 Pandemic, Prime Minister Kurti said that the challenge of facing the pandemic has made us understand that life should not be seen as an unchanging trajectory .

During his speech at this graduation ceremony, Prime Minister Kurti encouraged the students present to never underestimate the weight of their decisions, whatever they may be. “Working with integrity and responsibility, I am convinced that you will be successful wherever you go, whatever you do,” he said.

At the end of his speech, Prime Minister Kurti, congratulating them on this great achievement, addressed the students with the words that the decisions you will make – big or small – have the potential to have a chain effect on society and affect the lives of many individuals.
Present at this ceremony were the Chairman of the Board of R.I.T Kosova, Nancy Bekavac, as well as the president and dean at R.I.T Kosova, Mr. Kamal Shahrabi.

Prime Minister Kurti’s complete speech:

Honorable Mrs. Nancy Bekavac, Chairman of the Board of R.I.T Kosova,
The honorable Mr. Kamal Shahrabi, President and Dean of R.I.T Kosovo of the American University in Kosovo,
Dear academic staff,
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
Dear attendees,
Dear students of RIT Kosova,

I am pleased to be with you today, and that we are sharing the joy of this important achievement for each of you. I can imagine how today you feel calmer than you have felt in a long time. You’ve completed your exams and final projects, and you no longer need to calculate your grade point average. There is very little time left until you have your diplomas in your hands, and you know that the diploma you are equipped with today has a lot of value.

It is a concrete physical evidence of the result of your academic work in these four years. At the same time, it also represents your perseverance to overcome the challenges you have faced during this journey.

Unlike previous generations, you are faced with a new challenge, unforeseen by any of us. The Covid-19 pandemic forced us to adapt to a new way of life, and this did not exclude our education system.
During your years of study, you were forced to adapt to a new way of learning, where classrooms were replaced by computer screens, and discussions were taken to the virtual plane. However, whether on the university campus or through the Zoom platform, you have not lacked the zeal to engage in important student life activities, creating friendships and taking initiatives for the benefit of your community, the effect of which will continue to be felt by future generations.

The challenge of dealing with the pandemic has taught us that we should not see life as an unchanging trajectory. The future certainly has many unknowns, however, it is the known values that will guide you in what you decide to do and create next. Never underestimate the weight of your decisions, whatever they may be. By working with integrity and responsibility, I am convinced that you will be successful wherever you go, whatever you want to do.

While you are starting your new journey in the professional world, you should not forget the responsibility you have as part of society. We contribute to society because we get opportunities and gain rights from it. Maybe someone didn’t like the team work that they had to do so often during their studies – not everyone has the same work style and this sometimes creates difficulties. This type of collaboration is equally important in the professional world. Only when you pool your individual skills can you implement ideas that provide solutions to the challenges of society and our time. And while you work, continue to study, just as the adult must maintain something of the childlike curiosity for life, similarly, the entrepreneur, worker or official must maintain something of the scientific and critical research of the student days forever.

The decisions you make – big or small – have the potential to have a ripple effect on society and affect the lives of many other individuals. Whether you choose to contribute in the public or private sector, your actions can inspire others, drive innovation, advance progress and help create a fairer and more inclusive society.

Generation 2023, congratulations on this great achievement!

Good luck!
Thank you!
