On the day that the Vienna Economic Talks conference was held for the first time, in Pristina, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed in his first official visit as Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Austria, Mr. Wolfgang Sobotka.
He said that today was a special day for him, since in the morning he welcomed the Vienna Economic Forum, and he is concluding his official working hours with the meeting with the Speaker of the Austrian Parliament, Sobotka.
In the meeting that took place in the Government building, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for the help and support at every stage of the new history of the country and the excellent bilateral relations between Kosovo and Austria, which are early and for which we are committed to we strengthen them every day.
During the conversation, President Sobotka got to know in more detail the progress and achievements of Kosovo, especially in the last two years and the current developments in the country.
Prime Minister Kurti announced the latest economic and democratic indicators, and the results in the fight against crime and corruption. Mayor Sobotka gave his positive assessment of the progress achieved in the fight against corruption.
They also discussed the areas in which, in addition to the will, there is also the potential for even deeper cooperation such as the economy, trade exchanges, environment and infrastructure projects. Regarding cooperation in the field of foreign policy, Mr. Sobotka confirmed the continuation of Austria’s support to Kosovo in the Council of Europe until its full membership.
Among other things, Prime Minister Kurti and President Sobotka also spoke about the dialogue process and relations between Kosovo and Serbia, with a focus on last week’s meeting in Brussels and the Basic Agreement and the Implementation Plan according to the agreements in Brussels and Ohrid. On this occasion, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the contribution and constructive engagement of Kosovo in all meetings and throughout the entire process, as well as the importance that the Basic Agreement, which derives from the European proposal, with the direct involvement of France, Germany and Italy, be fully implemented, without delays and without conditions.
In this meeting, Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied by the ambassador of Kosovo in Vienna, Lulzim Pllana, the Chief of Staff, Luan Dalipi, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Daulina Osmani, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Arbëresha Kryeziu Hyseni, the political adviser, Zoje Surroi and the executive assistant of the Prime Minister, Valë Gjonbalaj.
