Prime Minister Kurti’s address at the 102nd Government meeting

October 26, 2022

Prishtina, 26 October 2022

Dear Cabinet of Government,
Dear citizens,

We are at the very end of October, which also brings the end of one of the biggest European cultural events organized for the first time in Kosovo.

With the organization of the International Biennale -Manifesta 14, we proved once again the potential that our country poses.

This was a successful edition, which made possible to our citizens to enjoy art and a rich artistic program for 100 days in a row, while it had a very good impact on the promotion of Kosovo in the world.

Manifesta 14 Prishtina brought together international and local contemporary artistic artists to Prishtina, while through many visitors, having a positive impact on the country’s economy.

The transformation of public spaces and the activation of the assets of our cultural heritage in function of the exhibition of contemporary art are just some of the positive effects that Manifesta brought to our country.

Therefore, I use this opportunity to invite each of you, in these few days, left until the end of the Manifesta Nomadic Biennale, to visit the artistic interventions in the different locations of the Biennale.

There are 25 in total and there are few days, but the impressions remain unforgettable.

Apart from art and culture, October was also a remarkable month for us in sports, especially in the international arena. Boxer Donjeta Sadiku won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Budva. Nora Gjakova won the silver medal at the Judo Grand Slam held in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, the judoist Loriana Kuka received the bronze medal. Meanwhile, Laurina Gashi, with her gold medal in the European Cup for Cadets, promised us that the future of our country in judo is as bright as the present, which we are already used to. This make us even happier that at the end of last month in the Government we approved the 12 million program, “Kosovo, state of judo”, which aims to have the institutional support for this sport and its massivisation.
Successes and history were recorded in other sports as well. Balkan club from Suhareka gave us the taste of the first victory of a team from Kosovo in the international football competition, UEFA Conference League. Meanwhile, through successive qualifications in large international tournaments, successes are also being noted in electronic sports.

Sometimes it looks like that the preoccupation with political developments in the country made us lose attention from the results of our young people, but our government always keeps them in mind, while in the focus of our policy making.

We are responsible and liable therefore our high-level state interest is to be by their side towards the achievement of their potential.

Thank you to all those artists, sportsmen, and people of culture, who are contributing within our country and outside our country for our country.
