Prime Minister Kurti hosted the President of the Republic of Malta, George Vella

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed in the Government building, the President of the Republic of Malta, George Vella, who is staying in our country on an official visit.

As he welcomed them to Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for the support in difficult times for the country and his gratefulness for the recognition, support in international organizations, especially during the process of joining the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, and the continuous cooperation of Malta with the Republic of Kosovo.

He informed President Vella about governance and progress in the country, economic indicators and the reasons why Kosovo presents good opportunities for foreign investors. Referring to data on the positive trend of exports, Prime Minister Kurti said that Kosovo aims to become an export-oriented economy and country, while referring to international reports such as that of Transparency International, Reporters Without Borders and the World Justice Project (WJP), he said that the image of the country has improved a lot. The Prime Minister added that the good relations between Kosovo and Malta should be accompanied by even greater cooperation in the field of economy and commercial exchanges, as he also emphasized the important role that Malta can play in relation to some non-recognizing states and the further integration of Kosovo in international organizations.

President Vella expressed his gratitude for the hospitality. He said that Malta’s support for Kosovo has always been sincere and that it will continue to be so in the future. It fully supports the European perspective of Kosovo, considers that Kosovo has met all the criteria for visa liberalization and is ready to help Kosovo in further membership in international organizations and non-recognizing countries. Our bilateral relations have no borders, said President Vella.

The meeting also covered topics on regional cooperation, the Berlin Process, the European perspective of the Western Balkans, dealing with the European energy crisis and the security of the region and the continent after the Russian Federation’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine.
