The First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, hosted in a meeting the new Ambassador of Sweden to Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi welcomed Ambassador Westerlund to Kosovo. Kosovo development was discussed during the meeting, where Mr. Bislimi emphasized that our country is on a new trajectory of development and advancement toward European Union integration. The progress evidenced in various areas, beyond the challenges of the time, should serve as a positive incentive for the country’s advancement. This year has brought a new dynamic to Kosovo’s European agenda, where, in addition to the need for visa liberalization, we intend to apply for EU membership within the year.
The objective of deepening cooperation between the two countries was also discussed during the meeting, especially in trade exchanges, production, increased investments of Swedish companies in Kosovo and common interest projects.
Mr. Bislimi thanked the Ambassador for the meeting and for Sweden’s continuous support to the Republic of Kosovo.
In the first half of next year, the state of Sweden will take over the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
