The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Albin Kurti, today received the leaders of the Humanitarian Association “Peja” seated in New York, Rejmond Zeka, President, Blerim Koçani, Secretary, Nevzat Bakraqi, Member of the Board, and Reshat Kelmendi, Treasurer.

Prime Minister Kurti thanked them for the visit and for diasporas’ contribution during the war and after the declaration of Kosova’s independence. Our diaspora is a strong integral part of our plan for sustainable economic development, stated the Prime Minister while adding that the special attention to the diaspora is also reflected in the Government Program.

The heads of the association informed Prime Minister Kurti about the association’s activity, which was founded in September 1998, as a necessity of the then political and economic situation in Kosovo.
They said that the association has maintained its humanitarian character since its establishment and has responded to demands and needs of the state and nation, helping the poor and people with health problems in Kosovo and beyond.

In recent years, the Association “Peja” has also helped sports and culture in Kosova and, in addition to humanitarianism, cooperates with other Albanian associations operating in the USA to preserve the Albanian language, tradition and culture.
