Foundation Stone Laid for Multisport Sports Hall in Podujevë

Podujevë, 1 September 2026

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, attended the laying of the foundation stone for the Multisport Sports Hall in the Municipality of Podujevë.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Kurti said that the investment of nearly €4.8 million in the sports hall demonstrates the Government’s commitment to sport, as well as its decision to ensure that Podujevë is included among the municipalities that will host the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games.

“Beyond the Mediterranean Games, of course, it will serve the athletes and sports enthusiasts of Llap, but also, in particular, young people, whom we encourage to engage in sport and physical activity as much as possible, because sport teaches us, like nothing else, the fairness of competition while also contributing to everyone’s health,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

Statement by Acting Prime Minister Kurti to the Media:

We are here together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Podujevë, Shpejtim Bulliqi, with the Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration, Arton Konushevci, and with representatives of the economic operator, the contractor “Bini”, on the occasion of laying the foundation stone for the Multisport Sports Hall here in Podujevë.

Sport is physical activity, sport is fair competition, sport is public health, and this investment of nearly €4.8 million here in the Municipality of Podujevë is evidence of our commitment to sport, as well as our decision to include the Municipality of Podujevë among the municipalities that will host the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games.

The works are expected to be completed in approximately three years, and in this way the Multisport Sports Hall, which will have 2,500 seats, will be ready for the Mediterranean Games. Beyond the Mediterranean Games, of course, it will serve the athletes and sports enthusiasts of Llap, but also, in particular, young people, whom we encourage to engage in sport and physical activity as much as possible, because sport teaches us, like nothing else, the fairness of competition while also contributing to everyone’s health.

Physical inactivity is the cause of many diseases; therefore, people, especially young people, should turn sport into a way of life.

Thank you to the Mayor. Thank you to everyone who contributed, and we will stand by the economic operator, the contractor “Bini”, to ensure that everything goes smoothly and that the work is completed according to the highest standards.
