The foundation stone for the Industrial Park in Frashër, Mitrovica, is laid

Mitrovica, 14 May 2026

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Acting Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari Lila, and the Mayor of Mitrovica, Faton Peci, participated in the laying of the foundation stone for the Industrial Park in the village of Frashër.

Acting Prime Minister Kurti said that various businesses from Mitrovica and across Kosovo, as well as foreign investors, will be able to establish themselves in this industrial park, thereby increasing production and creating more jobs.

While also inviting businesses from the diaspora to invest, he stated that the more businesses produce, the more conditions are created for export growth and import substitution, for improving the trade balance, and for overall socio-economic progress.

The value of the investment is nearly 1 million euros, while the construction works for the Industrial Park are expected to last 150 days.

Full Speech by Acting Prime Minister Kurti:

We are here together with the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Ms. Mimoza Kusari Lila, and with our host in Mitrovica, the Mayor of the Municipality, Faton Peci, as well as other colleagues from the Government of the Republic and the Municipality of Mitrovica, in Frashër of Mitrovica, where there will be an industrial park that is highly necessary and beneficial for manufacturing businesses, not only from Mitrovica.

In this way, we are repaying a small part of the great debt we owe to Mitrovica, which contributed so much development and culture not only to Kosovo, but to the entire Albanian nation. Now we are giving something back through this investment here in Frashër, in the total amount of nearly 1 million euros for this industrial park, where various businesses from Mitrovica, from Kosovo, and also foreign investors will be able to establish themselves, so that production increases and employment grows. The more businesses produce, the more conditions are created for export growth and import substitution, for improving the trade balance, and for overall socio-economic progress.

Over the next three years, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo will invest more than 30 million euros in 14 industrial parks throughout Kosovo, because we want the infrastructure for businesses that produce and create jobs to be as modern as possible.

Here in Frashër, the works have already begun and the basic infrastructure is being built, after which we will also have the additional infrastructure that modernizes the industrial park and makes it attractive for businesses.

Naturally, businesses from the diaspora will also be able to come here, as we know that compatriots from Mitrovica are spread across Europe and beyond, especially in Germany, London, and Sweden. They should not come to Mitrovica only to visit their families, but should also consider bringing at least part of the entrepreneurship and professions they practice in the West back to their beloved hometown, which misses them and wishes for them to return and develop as individuals and families here in Mitrovica as well.

In the Mitrovica region, as you know, we also have the Ibër River and Trepça. Mitrovica was the center of Kosovo’s industrialization in the second half of the 20th century. Therefore, we should see this industrial park as a new step in the 21st century for what Mitrovica has always represented — a hub of technology, industry, and development that goes beyond the boundaries not only of this municipality, but also of the Republic of Kosovo.

I also thank the economic operator, which is working with increased intensity and here, as you can see on this board, the plan foresees that the works will be completed within 150 days, meaning in only five months. This means that certainly this year we will come again to cut the ribbon of this industrial park, where many businesses will be established.

But naturally, before cutting the ribbon in autumn, now in spring we will lay the foundation stone together with the Mayor of the Municipality and the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation.

Congratulations to the workers, to the citizens, and best wishes to everyone!
